February 01, 2015
February begins tomorrow; one month in to 2015 and one month into our Dozen Little Things New Year Commitments. For those of you who may have missed it we are embracing the New Year with 12 little incremental changes and actions (one per month) that are easy to achieve rather than one big New Year’s resolution that’s hard to stick with.
February’s commitment is kindness. It’s as simple as that. I encourage you to make kindness a standard. Be kind – to yourself, your neighbors, and your world. Sounds easy but it is going to take some mindfulness.
On my worst day, you can find me in my car muttering under my breath – well, sometimes shouting – at the car who just cut me off on my way home from the office. Do not let this sweet demeanor fool you; I am hasty and impatient behind the wheel especially when I’ve had a long day and I’m itching to get home. Here’s one thing to remember, that bad energy I put out there into the world does me no good, and the other person in the car, he or she cannot hear me. So what’ the point? This is where the February’s little thing comes into play – be kind. Send out good energy and it will come back to you.
When we launched the Kari Gran brand we decided that we wanted to be the company that told women to be kind to your skin, five little power packed words on all of our products and our packaging. We say it because we mean it. As the largest organ on your body, your beautiful skin deserves some TLC and so do you and all the people you come in contact with on a daily basis.
So, in February, note to self. Give the car merging at a glacier pace a little more room for comfort on the roads. Smile often. Return a cart for someone at the grocery store. Donate and get involved to better the lives of those living half way around the world.Kindness is more than just a nice idea for those with the extra time and resources. It is an attitude, a lifestyle, a habit. And as habits always do, it needs tending to.
To keep in theme with 2015: A Dozen Little Things we want to know how you want to put kindness into action this month? We’d love to hear your best tips and tricks to brighten someone’s day!
